이상과 현실 (The ideals and reality)

우리는 이상적인 삶을 꿈꾼다.
(Everyone dreams of an ideal life.)
그러면서 동시에 현실을 살아간다.
(At the same time, we live in the present.)
이상적인 삶은 꿈이고 현실은 눈앞에 펼쳐진 나의 상황이다.
(An ideal life is just a dream, and reality means facing my situation.)
꿈이 있다는건 살아있다는 증거이다.
(It is evident that we have a dream.)
우리는 항상 더 나아지길 원하므로 치열하게 하루를 살고 또 공부하고 자기계발을 한다.
(Through studying and self-development, we aim for a better life.)
현실 곳곳에는 여러가지 물리적인 현상들이나 보이지 않는 관계들이 우리에게 투영되고 영향을 준다.
(In many aspects of reality, both physical phenomena and invisible relationships are reflected onto us and influence our lives.)
우리가 이상을 향해 나아가는데 저항도 있고 부스터도 있고 증폭기도 있을 것이다.
(In our pursuit of the ideal, we encounter resistance, but also gain boosters and amplifiers that drive us forward.)
여기서 저항은 돈으로 해결되는 것들이 많다.
(Many forms of resistance can be overcome with money.)
하지만 돈으로 해결할 수 없는 명예, 권력과 같은 인간 사회 전체를 통솔하고 영향력을 끼칠 수 있는 것들을 이루기 위해서는 돈 뿐만이 아니라 더 많고 복잡한 리소스가 필요하다.
(However, things like honor and power are beyond what money can overcome.)
예전에는 꿈을 갖고 쫓아야한다는 말에 많은 사람들이 공감하고 선망했다.
(People admire those who dared to chase their dreams in the past.)
하지만 지금은 많은 사람들이 현실의 벽에 부딪혀서 돈의 노예가 되는 길을 걷고 있다.
(But now, faced with the weight of reality, many people find themselves enslaved by money.)
내가 하고 싶은 모든 것들은 돈이 없으면 진입조차 할 수 없는 것들이 많다.
(There are so many things I want to do, but I can't take the first step without money.)
부모님의 경제적인 여유에서부터 비롯되어야만이 자식들은 하고 싶은 것들에 과감히 뛰어들어서 도전하고 그 외에 대부분의 사람들은 생계유지에 도움이 될만한 것들을 꿈으로 삼고 행동한다.
(Some kids can do many things thanks to their parents' wealth, while others have to struggle on their own just to survive.)

왜 자식을 안낳는 사회가 되었을까?
(Why don't people have children these days?)
우리의 부모님 세대들은 농경사회와 공장중심의 사회에 익숙하다.
(Our parents grew up in a time of agriculture and industrialization.)
즉, 많은 노동력을 필요로 하는 사회 구조이고 그때는 자식농사가 최고의 재테크 수단이었다.
(So, a large workforce was needed, and having many children helped.)
그저 성실하게 살기만 하면 잘 사는 것이었고 많이 낳으면 자식들은 부모님을 직접 부양하는 사회였다.
(Sociiety valued hardworking people, and children supported their parents.)
그리고 그 외적으로 다양한 이유들이 있겠지만 주요 맥락은 사회 구조의 변화일 것이다.

세상은 변했고 앞으로도 변할 것이다.
(The world has changed and is still moving forward.)
부모들이 자식을 뒷바라지 하는 시대에 도래했고 자식을 잘 키워내기 위해서는 많은 지원이 필요하다.
(In today's society, parents are expected to support their chilldren and provide them with a great deal of assistance.)
그것을 포기하고 개인의 삶을 선택할 수 있는 세상이 되었다.
(We now live in a world where individuals can choose to give up that role and focus on their personal lives.)
당신은 혼자서 자유를 느끼면서 풍요롭게 살 것인가?
(Will you live freely and abundatly on your own?)
아니면 원치 않는 사람과 결혼해서 아기를 낳고 가난하게 살 것인가?
(Or will you marry someone you don't love, have chilldren, and live in poverty?)
사회 제도와 국가의 지도자 몇명의 힘으로는 큰 물줄기는 거스를 수 없을 것이다.
(No one alone can resist this massive change.)
그러나 걱정하지 않아도 된다.
(But we need not be afraid.)
세상은 반세기에 한번씩 큰 패러다임의 전환이 생겼고 지금도 AI라는 4차 산업혁명이 도래하여 변화의 변곡점에 이르렀다.
(Every half-century brings a major paradigm shift. Now, it's AI and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.)
철강업, 운송업 같은 1차 산업혁명이 시작되던 18세기에 핸드폰 하나로 세상이 연결될 것이라 과연 상상이나 할 수 있었을까? 인터넷? 가상현실? 상상도 못했다.
(In the 18th century, could anyone have imagined that a small device like a smartphone would someday connect the entire world?)
우리가 예상하지도 못할 기존의 것들을 전부 깨 부수는 창의적인 방식으로 세상은 또 변할 것이다.
(The world will change again, smashing old patterns with bold creativity.)

우리는 이상과 현실의 사이에서 이상을 쫓으므로 발전할 수 있는 것이다.
(We grow by chasing ideals that lie between imagination and reality.)
이상은 꿈이고 현실은 꿈을 이루기 위해 우리앞에 놓여진 과제들이다.
(Ideals are dreams, and reality is the set of challenges placed before us to achieve those dreams.)
현실에 살면서 이상을 꿈꾸는 것은 마치 끝이 없는 우주처럼 무한한 가능성이 잠재된 세상에 살고 있다는 반증이다.
